The National Register of Historic Places Nomination Form was completed during Dillon's Investigating and Evaluating Heritage studio. As part of the course's main content, Dillon researched the 1920 Richard Arnold School, located 1810 Bull Street in Savannah's Thomas Streetcar Historic District in order to write a nomination to the National Register. Through the project, Dillon employed skills of archival research, critical thinking, and technical writing while also forming a knowledge of the framework of the National Park Service and federal historic preservation policy. In addition, Dillon conducted interviews of the school's alumni, which work recognize the important place the school holds in the patterns of the South's educational and civil rights history.
